Day trip to Rotterdam, Kraligen & Scheveningen

semi-overcast 18 °C

P6230282.jpgUp at about 6am, we made lunch and headed out the door by about 9ish. :-) We rode to the Amersfoort train statin and purchased our tickets to Rotterdam. An hour and a half later we were in Rottordam. We hopped off the train and got a strip of tram tickets. After waiting at the wrong stop for 15 minutes we double checked, moved over a platform or two, and were on our way to Kraligen. The tram guy recomended we get off at a particular spot which we did. The achitecture was old and nice but it had a bit of a slummy feel. We dropped into a cheese shop where Louise and Jess bought some garlic olives. Next we headed down the street for some photo graphic moments and jumped onto the next tram headed to Rotterdam Central. We hopped off there and found a tram to take us to the Spido which is a tour boat that does tours the Rotterdam harbour which I believe is one of the worlds busiest harbours. We saw stacks upon stacks of containers, large ships in dry docks, old achitechture etc. The tour took close on an hour and a half. Once back at the dock we checked out some tourisim shops and debated as to what to do next. In the end we decided that we should get to Den Haag which is close to Scheveningen and make a decision from there. When we arrived there wasn't enough time to go to the mini holland so we went straight on to Scheveningen which was right on the beach. We walked along the beach and in the freezing cold water, out the huge two level wharf and up the impressively high bungy tower at the end. Then we relaxed close to the beach with plates full of Poffertjes and a beverage or two.P6230276.jpg
